Sport Leaders
Sportwise tutors are able to deliver a range of Sports Leaders Awards such as Sports Leader, Community Sports Leaders and Higher Sports Leaders Awards. The awards can easily be tailored to fit into the curriculum with the community and higher awards counting towards UCAS points. Awards may also be delivered in one week intensive blocks depending on the needs of the group.
Young Leader Award
The Young Leader Award is a programme of leadership training for young people between the ages of nine and 13 that promotes them working with younger children, teaching leadership skills through a range of games and activities. The Young Leader Award has been designed for use in a variety of different delivery settings, including primary and secondary schools, uniformed organisations and sports and community groups.
Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership
This award provides the ideal starting point for candidates aged 13 years and over who wish to develop their leadership skills, whilst under the direct supervision of their tutor.
Level 2 Award in Sports Leadership
The Level 2 Award will give candidates the chance to develop their organisation, motivation and communication skills, whilst also focusing on positive role models in sport, how to mentor others, and how to use leadership skills in a variety of settings.
Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership
The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to lead groups of people in sport/activity, under indirect supervision. The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport.
This award enables successful candidates to lead un-supervised groups of people in sport and recreational activities. This qualification builds upon the skills and experience gained through the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership and the Level 2 Award in Sports Leadership.
Level 3 Award in Day Walk Leadership
The Sports Leaders UK Level 3 Award in Day Walk Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that trains and qualifies teachers, youth workers and other members of the community to lead walking groups in lowland countryside, impart the knowledge and skills needed to undertake a day walk and have responsibility for the care of others while leading a day walk in lowland countryside. The qualification counts towards the service section of all three awards in The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.
Level 3 Certificate in Basic Expedition Leadership
The certificate is a nationally recognised qualification that trains and qualifies teachers, youth workers and other members of the community to lead walking groups in lowland countryside, impart the knowledge and skills needed to undertake a day walk, have responsibility for the care of others while leading a day walk in lowland countryside, plan and lead overnight base and mobile camps. It is the minimum qualification required by many Local Authorities and Operating Authorities of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, to train and lead groups in the expedition section of the Bronze and Silver Awards.
